Wild Animal Necklace
writes, "A fun twist on homemade jewelry, these necklaces would be a perfect party activity that guests can take home with them. Or make one as a special gift, using your best friend's favorite animal and favorite color yarn."

Materials:
Small plastic animals {I found a package of 6 animals for $5.00}
Yarn {wild, decorative yarns work best}
Scissors
Jump rings {small metal circles for jewelry}
Needle-nose pliers
Ball chain {or a necklace you already have}

1) Wrap
Wrap the yarn around the middle of your animal, leaving a long enough piece at the beginning and end to tie securely. Trim the excess.

2) Add a Ring
Most jump rings can be easily bent open with needle-nose pliers. Open your jump ring, then slip the end through your wrapped yarn. Bend the jump ring closed using pliers. Alternative method: Thread your ring onto your yarn. When you have wrapped halfway, slide the ring to center it on top of your animal and continue wrapping.

3) Add a Chain
Ball chains are inexpensive and available at the craft store. Any simple chain or beaded necklace will work. Just thread the chain or necklace through the jump ring.

Other ideas:
~ Add some matching beads or tie some extra yarn in a few spots on the necklace.
~ Thread with a short length of ribbon to make an ornament.
~ Hang several animals along a long length of ribbon, tying a knot above each one, to make a fun garland.
