Easily Shed a Few Pounds
writes, "Recently I have been plagued with an injury - and so I have forced myself to take some time off from exercise. My weight started to slowly creep up and I knew it was time to cut back on my daily food intake. My plan was not working very well. Of course I was telling myself that I was eating clean and watching my daily intake. So what was I doing wrong?"
I was taking the "Cookie Jar" approach. In other words - I was mindlessly snacking. I know we all play victim to this problem. Every time I was preparing a plate of snacks for Violet I would cut a few extra bits and snack myself. Every time I walked into the kitchen I would reach into the cupboard for a handful of nuts or a few crackers. I would cut an extra slice of cheese for myself when making my son a sandwich. The small bits of food here and there were adding up!

If the same has happened to you, here are a few tips to easily shed a few pounds:

Stick to a eating schedule. Whether you eat every 2 hours or 3 times a day, stick to the plan.

Be mindful of what you are putting into your mouth. Even if a friend says, "just one bite."

Become a forward thinker. Before retiring for bed - plan what you will have for breakfast, lunch, dinner and even snacks the next day.

Grocery Shop according to your family menu - shop with enough food in mind for 4 days. This will keep you from stopping at your local fast food and grabbing something you should not.

Pack Snacks. I always have a few nuts, dried fruit, or protein bar for those times I find myself away from the house.

Setting a timer. I will set my phone every few hours to remind myself when to eat.

Drink plenty of water. There have been times where I don't remember when I last drank a sip of water, so I keep a water bottle close at all times.

Fresh is Best. I always try and reach for fresh fruits and veggies.

Lean is Clean. I choose lean meats whenever possible.

Write it down. If you are like me - writing keeps me on target and I definitely don't want to put it in my mouth if I have to write it down.
